I have divided feelings about this one. It frustrated me throughout, but wrapped up nicely in the end... although it did seem to wrap up almost a little too nicely.

I found Peppermints at the library the other day when I was pulling holds and immediately sat down and started reading it, much to my manager's irritation. But when you find an old friend you haven't even thought of in 30 or so years, what else can you do but say hello? Re-reading the novel as an adult dampened its magic just a tad--did I really admire goody-two-shoes Emily as much as I remember?--but all in all, the exciting mystery with real villains and serious stakes holds up.

I have fond memories of this book. I was a shy girl and not a part of the popular crowd. The whole idea of finding a place to hide away and share with a friend was a beautiful thought and I read this book over and over. I need to read it again as an adult.
