The "Imaginary Invalid" of the title really an unpleasant character and Moliere clearly didn't think too highly of doctors.....an opinion I am inclined to share with him of late considering my medical and hospital bill woes. But, though funny in places, I think that the shepardess prologue and the Punch-led interlude draw-out the play and really are unnecessary.

"The Imaginary Invalid" is not on par with "Tartuff" or "The Misinthrope", for example.
