This is like a lighter version of American Gods. Comedic and fun. ( ![]() This book is what I wanted American Gods to be. You’re dealing with silly material, allow the story to be silly. The gods themselves certainly won’t be. Dirk Gently is a most interesting detective: smart and bumbling, he recognizes connections but doesn’t know why. The first three-quarters are fantastic, but it falls apart a bit toward the end. Adams seems to have remembered he needs to publish this book and he doesn’t care much for books over 300 pages. I felt a bit like Dirk at the end: seeing the connections but not quite understanding why they were there. But what a brilliant gags are the Coke machine and fridge. Adams is a genius. The ending was perhaps not as satisfying as the first one but funny and we'll pieced together nonetheless. Amusing, but I think I preferred the first Dirk Gently book more. I did enjoy how almost everything mentioned ended up having some significance later in the book. It's been a while since I read any of Douglas Adams work. Dirk seems to be a completely different kind of weird from the Hitchhikers Guide books. Certainly this one did not have the silly playful weird I was used to. It's a bit darker and grimier. He still manages to catch my attention and keep me engaged. Though the beginning and ending were Mostly Pointless, the middle was a fun ride. Thor, Odin and the gang were up to some hijinks. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Beloved, bumbling Detective Dirk Gently returns in this standalone novel--in trade paperback for the first time--from Douglas Adams, the legendary author of one of the most beloved science fiction novels of all time, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." When an explosion goes off at the passenger check-in desk at London's Heathrow Airport, the unexplainable event is deemed an act of God. For private investigator Dirk Gently, it's his job to find out which god would do such a strange thing. In the meantime, one of his clients is murdered and his battle with the cleaning lady over his unbelievably filthy refrigerator comes to a standoff. Is it all connected? Or is this just another stretch of coincidences in the life of off-kilter super-sleuth Dirk Gently? The follow-up to "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency," "The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul" is an unforgettable novel of inimitable wit, humor, and limitless imagination.
