The Little Books of the LIttle Brontes was an ARC from the publisher. i was happy it avoided being "dumbed down". Publishers Weekly called it, "deeply sensitive",and it manages to be accurate and sufficiently upbeat for children. The little Brontes grew up isolated among the somber, desolate moors and naturally had to create their own entertainment. Hence the titular little books, that they each wrote in tiny print for their toy soldiers to read. I loved the illustrations. The text is written for the younger crowd but includes more detailed information at the back for parents. My only complaint would be that although it's mentioned that they lived in a parsonage it's not explained what that means. i.e. their father was an Anglican minister. The illustrations are beautifully done and really make this book appealing. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. This is a sweet book about close siblings that all share the love for books, stories, and the use of imagination to play. It was an instant hit for my 10 and 6 year olds. They both instantly wanted to go write a book after reading it.Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Absolutely charming! I love the story telling itself and it is beautifully written. Intelligent, understandable, captivating. The store gives children a sweet glimpse into the lives of this wonderful family that went on to produce beloved authors, and is an exceptional contribution to biographic picture books.
Beautifully illustrated, the drabness of the moors is captured yet overcome with the winsome and charm of those who lived at moor's edge.
I highly recommend this for homes. school and public libraries, as well as classroom libraries. A grand little book.
I "won" a copy on the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Oh my goodness. Everything about this book is absolutely beautiful. The binding, the illustrations...Everything!! I read this to my 4 year old. I read this to my 4 year old. It was maybe a bit big for her yet but she loved the illustrations. Her favorite part was when Charlotte writes Anne a story about going on a ship. Thank you to Tundra books for this beautiful book that we will enjoy for years to come.
Exquisitely crafted text and illustrations convey an emotionally resonant tale of resilient family bonds and the lasting joy of stories. Splendidly affirming for young readers, writers, and artists.
