Browsing awhile online recently I noticed that quite a lot of Rebecca West's titles have been published as Viragos. I only have a couple (Return of the Soldier and a collection of non-fiction works). Has anybody read many of her works and does anyone have any recommendations?

I've only read Return of the Soldier which I loved, so would also appreciate recommendations.

I've read Return of the Soldier and the Fountain Overflows trilogy, Sunflower and The Harsh Voice. The first two books of the trilogy are lovely. I enjoyed Sunflower. The Harsh Voice and the 3rd book in the trilogy not so much.

Adding my voice to the recommendations for Return of the soldier (which might only take an hour or two to read, but will linger in your mind for much longer) and The fountain overflows.

I've read only The Thinking Reed, but I was surprised that I enjoyed it so much. If people aren't recommending it, then I think that the ones that they are recommending must be fabulous, and I must get to them too!

I've only read the Return of the Soldier, but it's one of my all-time favourite books. I had the pleasure of studying it at university.

I have read The Fountain Overflows trilogy, and liked it very very much.

The Fountain Overflows is my favorite.

I've read quite a few. The Fountain Overflows trilogy was very good. The only one I haven't really liked was Harriet Hume and I found The Judge rather bleak.

I have three Rebecca West titles (The Return of the Soldier, Harriet Hume and This Real Night) and am slightly ashamed to admit I still haven't read any of them. Rebecca West has cropped up in the biography of Elizabeth von Arnim that I'm currently reading as both had affairs with H. G. Wells. I will have to read some of her books in AVAA.
