Fine photographs of sloths, their habitat, and other animals and birds work in tandem with primary and secondary text to introduce readers to sloths. Full of interesting facts, including additional back matter for those who want more "sloth science."

Did you know that sloths got their sleepy reputation from scientists who only observed them in zoos? In the wild, sloths sleep about as much as human teenagers - 9-10 hours. Koalas have the sleepy record!

Onomatopoeia and action-filed illustrations tell the story of the spadefoot toad & her survival strategy. Note that it mentions a male toad riding piggyback, a female laying her eggs, & a male fertilizing them.

Bright photography and catchy rhymes showing that leave fall from trees in the fall. Includes a section in the back that provides information about the science of leaves changing colors and falling.

Picture book full of real life nature scenes. Birds, chipmunks, whales, and insects filled the pages. The were little words, so the pictures could take up the page. The words that were there were very lyrical and poetic. Sometimes the words would even move across the page in different ways making the language very fluid. This book has its strength in both illustrations and text!

There is great value to seeing real pictures in a book for children to learn about nature and animals. I would use this book for Kindergartners and first graders.… (más)
