Benjamin Rush Martin III was born in Salisbury, North Carolina on September 16, 1930. By the age of 15, he was working for The Salisbury Post and by 17, he had become the youngest member of the National Press Photographers Association. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism from Ohio mostrar más University in Athens. In 1957, he became a full-time staff photographer for Time. His photographs included the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s march to Montgomery, Alabama, John F. Kennedy's funeral, an expedition to the North Pole, and commemorations of the 25th anniversary of the D-Day landing in Normandy and the 40th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He retired from Time-Life in 1989 and later worked for corporate clients. In 1978, he wrote and illustrated the book Marcel Marceau: Master of Mime. He died from complications of pulmonary fibrosis on February 10, 2017 at the age of 86. (Bowker Author Biography) mostrar menos
