This book is a touch and feel book where children can interact with the book not only by reading it but by feeling the different pictures in the book. "That's Not My Polar Bear is a book about a mouse that is trying to find his/her polar bear. Through the book the mouse explains "that's not my polar bear. Its claws are too shiny" or maybe its tongue is too rough. On the last page the mouse says "that's my polar bear. Its tummy is so fluffy.Through out the book you are able to feel a rubbery nose, shiny claws, a Velcro rough tongue, etc. I thought this book was a good sensory material for children who are still trying to learn different senses and put two and two together. For example, this book can help them see that a polar bears tongue actually feels like the Velcro on your jacket. or its paws feel like bumpy tires or like a dogs paws. These things are great for children to learn because it helps them take real life examples and pair them with life like animals and relate the two of them. A great use for this book in a classroom would be to use it at Christmas for a fun activity because it is a polar bear and for them to write down the things they think his paws feel like or his tongue.
