I did like this book that I recieved through the library thing program....The story follow a rock band and shows all sides to life of fame ,drugs girls, groopies, family problems, dealth,on the rise to fame this band goes throgh it all and doccuments it in a play by play story .The story is well written and easy to follow the material I think should be R rated. The characters are easy to follow and well rounded .It is a tipical story of rise to fame in a rock and roll band life on the road anf the problems they encounter.I would reccomend the book. A member giveaway book i received. I found this book a little raw for my liking. It isn't supposed to be a feel good book though and i am sure there is a audience for this story, at times i had a hard time making sense of the story. But after finishing the book I realize that is kind of the point. Esta reseña ha sido escrita para Sorteo de miembros LibraryThing. The plot of the book is not really clear. It was not obvious if this was a thriller, detective, love-story, ....The writing style was for me as a non-native English person sometimes overwhelming with a lot of unknown words but most of it was understandable. I guess for American people this will be called "literature" ...;-)It gives a lot of details about drugs etc but this does not help to build some good story. Sorry. The Art of Falling Apart tells a seedy story rife with all the tawdriness we have come to expect from drug and alchohol affected rockers struggling for a foothold on the celebrity ladder.Replete with the psychotic stalker fan, this book tells the story of a bunch of likely lads and their so called minders who crash and burn in spectacular fashion. There are some that might say this is a stereotypical rendering of the rock and roll lifestyle but it does have some redeeming features. There's nothing glamorous about the "falling apart" - after all, ending up dead, in jail, alone, in hospital or broke, is hardly the happy ending. Mark Dawson's book is not for those who would see all redeemed in the closing pages. If you are one who doesn't like to read about drugs, addicts, dealers and filth, then don't read this. Nor would it suit those who believe that women should be respected rather than exploited. Its characters are damaged people about whom we might learn more than we care to know. Its a seedy book about a seedy group of people who, in the main, get what they deserve. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
Dystopia are a total phenomenon in Europe - now it's time for the band to crack the American market. The first venue is in Las Vegas, and their opening concert seems a success. But secret envy and open animosity have begun to tear the group apart. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
