this is a reworking of the beauty and the beast story. the twist in the tale has been a little overshaddowed by recent movies so that cuts some of the impact that this would have had arround the time it was written.
again the authors are commenting on the way that we judge peole by the way we look. if this story was reverced and the people became beautiful at the end i would be incenced by the message that this was sending to the children. The theme would have to be that to be popular you have to fit into the dominant culture no matter what it is.
Whatever with the childish delight in much and mess this is certain to be a hit
