I enjoyed this book very much and even got to meet the author when I was in elementary school. The language used is very descriptive when Maggie finds the eggs in her sandbox and they are pinkish with speckles. It is easy to fall in love with this book as a local Marylander who grew up just a few miles from the bay. This book pushes readers to connect to the environment and raising awareness. The big idea of this book is to relate children's literature in raising awareness for wildlife from their own backyards. ( ) From publisher: Imagine finding turtle eggs in your sandbox!
