Wow. I'm struggling to find the words to tell you how much I loved this book. Unforgettable characters, a well-developed magical world, and a grumpy MC you can't help but love. Bennet does an amazing job of building tension, both with the main plot, and the romantic subplot. In a world of magic, where politics are tricky, and danger looms on the horizon, you'll find yourself caught up in Dorian's story, and fall in love with his need to protect those near to him. The magic academy felt very reminiscent of American schools, which just made this feel all the more real. Bennet just seems to have a knack for weaving the supernatural in with the real. An excellent way to start off a new series, and I can't wait to see what book two has in store! ( )
