I throughly enjoyed this story. Two vampires are partnered to protect a serum. Both are loners and mesh as partners in business and life despite and because of their similar emotional histories. The characters were well rounded and believable; I wanted both of them to experience what they hadn’t even hoped for and believed they never would.
This is the second book in a series, I prefer to read series in sequence however I didn’t feel like I started in the middle of a story and was missing parts. I only felt encouraged to read the first book and read any sequent books. ( )

I received this book to review as part of the Early Reviewers. This book is very interesting in the rebellion but also has the love story of the two vampires. Very interesting romantic fantasy novel.

This is a sort of post-apocalyptic telling of a tale where demons try to rule the world and other species try to come together to fight this. Arturo is the older vampire, formerly a gangster hit man, who’s been turned and knows his allegiance to the good guys. Sofia, is a more recently turned vampire. They’ve been teamed to work together but neither really anticipates that going well. Yes, he’s older and, yes, she’s younger, but in the world of paranormal, does it really matter? I enjoyed the revelations each shared about themselves and insights into each other. They came together pretty quickly and didn’t experience much angst in their budding relationship. I would have enjoyed more of a story line about the other characters but it was still good. ( )
