With a touch of magic, a little mystery, and a hint of adventure, this tale weaves around London, points out its most-known sights, and spins dreams of royalty.I did not read the first book in this series, which didn't cause too many issues when jumping right in with the second. There is some backstory missing, but it's not too difficult to pick it up and enjoy the tale. This is a quick read, which scurries along at a nice pace. Scarlet is a character to root for as she does the best she can in all circumstances, makes mistakes, and is determined to help out any way she can. Her enthusiasm to spend time with her grandmother is adorable, and her ability to make new friendships is inspiring...and not surprising. She's laid back and takes life as it comes. It does come with all sorts of interesting twists and turns, but considering she does possess some magical talent, it's not a surprise that situations can get a little odd at times. Imagination takes flight as she teleports from one place to another thanks to magical books. I wasn't clear on how this worked on the time end as her parents never realized she was missing, but that might have been covered in the first book. The writing, in general, runs smoothly despite a few sharp transitions here. I did enjoy this one more as it went on, and do believe it'd make a nice read-aloud for those readers dreaming of princesses, travel, and a pinch of magic. Scarlet, a girl from New York City, is excited to visit London and see her grandmother Rose -- even more because she suspects her grandmother also knows how to travel through magical books of fairytales. But her magic books has stopped working, and Scarlet can't seem to find answers anywhere...London Secrets is the second book in the Pillow Palace Adventures series. I had not read the first one and it was difficult to get into the story because of it. The second half of the book definitely picked up as Scarlet and her new friend Grace rushed around London seeking answers to riddles. For the 3rd-5th grade set. I loved how there was magic throughout the book as well as references to famous landmarks in London. This book would certainly spark a child’s interest in London. One thing to take note is that there are many references to the first book in the series. I did not read that, so I was missing some information as I read. Overall, the story is cute. There are parts that are. but rushed, but I’d say is appropriate for a child. Scarlett is a fun main character and her Grandma is very like able. Thank you for the opportunity to read this. My 9 year old is recently become very interested in British history and geography. The magical storybook that is missing in similiar to several books out on the market. My daughter did enjoy looking up the different London locations throughout the book. The story was just ok for us - we enjoyed it but I don't know if we would read it again.sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
