We love the A Narwhal and Jelly Book series and had to check out this new one for Halloween. As usual, the story was super funny with Narwhal being their quirky self and Jelly the conservative one. What I liked most about this story was how Jelly overcame their fears of Halloween costumes when they needed to save Narwhal. As a parent dealing with a sensitive child, this is the perfect bridge to introducing fun strategies to turn something scary into something ridiculous. And also that we can be brave even when we are scared. This book is a must-read for everyone who loves these two sea creatures and maybe needs some costume inspiration. ( )

"A Super Scary Narwhalloween" by Ben Clanton pairs the scaredy-jellyfish Jelly with his free-loving, unrattled, waffle-loving friend Narwhal. The writing is full of wit and puns that goofy young readers will love. In the beginning, Narwhal can't decide which Halloween costume to wear and parades through different options. When a "real monster" has apparently gotten Narwhal, Jelly has a "What Would Narwhal Do?" moment (with a horn on his head) and comes to the conclusion that to defeat the monster, they will have a Super Waffle Party and he'll need to become Jelly Jolt (now with Narwhal horn and ninja-like eye mask) and "superfies" his friends.

There are two story breaks where you get "Fangtastic Facts" about the goblin shark, vampire squid, phantom jellyfish, etc.

My students frequently check out the Narwhal and Jelly books. If you're looking for pure silly, this book fits the bill.

Narwhal is trying to decide what to be for Halloween, and his choices are hilarious! (I liked the banana!) Narwaffle seems to be his favorite choice! This book also has a Superpod assembly, and another chapter in the ongoing saga of Superwaffle and Strawberry Sidekick!

Jelly and Narwhal have to come up with consumes for a Halloween party. Jelly becomes a super hero just in time to battle a sea creature. The graphic novel series packs so much humor and plenty of puns into each silly story. This one also comes with a glow-in-the-dark cover, which is extra fun! ( )

Narwhal is excited for Halloween, but Jelly is more apprehensive ("I don't like all the scary stuff"). Narwhal has a "costume conundrum" and eventually decides to be everything ("I kinda got caught up in all my costumes"), which leads other sea creatures to believe there's a monster on the loose. Jelly then sets out to save Narwhal from the monster...
