The winner will be crowned Ambassador's Bride. The losers will meet certain death. When you're living inside a dwarf planet in the cold abyss of space, life is only easy if you're rich. 17-year-old Marishel Vance works as a seamstress - but when she's selected to compete in a brutal contest for the Ambassador's hand in marriage, she's quickly catapulted into a life-threatening struggle. Marishel hates the idea of fighting for some stuck-up rich guy - no matter how handsome he is. But after her attempts to escape are thwarted, she becomes desperate to find a way to end the Blood Match and save the lives of the girls she's training with. The key could lie in Ambassador Quin himself ... but as she tries to win his friendship, her growing feelings for him only complicate the matter. As the Blood Match looms closer, Marishel spirals deeper into a world of intrigue, danger, punishment, and secrets. Trusting the wrong people means game over. If Marishel wants to save herself - and the other fifty-nine girls sentenced to death - she'll have to break every rule in the book to do it... As a riveting and imaginative science fiction novel that expertly weaves exhilarating action and nail-biting suspense with a futuristic death game like no other, Hierarchy of Blood is a page-turning read that's perfect for fans of books like The Selection and The Hunger Games. Once i started this story i was in it until the very end. It was mind catching to read and be in this bloody world with forced contestants. It reminded me of the hunger games and i was here for it. This will keep you guessing and the ending will leave you shocked as i was. I enjoyed this book.

17 year old Marishel is selected as one of 60 women to fight to the death for the hand of Prince. Traveling from her home in the chilly outreaches of the planet, she is transported to the warmth and comfort of the capital. Determined to stop the process, she struggles to make allies and convince other girls to join her.

Although this was an interesting story, the book needed a bit more character and plot development. 60 girls was a bit much, they all seemed to blend together. It was extremely easy to get in and out of the palace, which seemed a bit unrealistic. In the end, everything was resolved way to easily. Unfortunately, this book just wasn't for me. ( )

Hierarchy of Blood is a YA novel that definitely leans to the younger side of the YA spectrum and has a more simplistic storytelling method. I would have liked to see more world building even though the book is geared toward younger kids. The characters are a bit shallow but the story is still entertaining and would be great for younger kids.

I was not able to finish the book as I could not get into it. It was very hard to stay focused, and also very confusing on time jumps. There were several sentences and grammatical issues which made it hard to understand. It was giving me a Hunger Games and The Selection vibe which did not seem very original. I wish I could have continued it, but it was not holding my attention. ( )

This book was given as an ARC for an honest review, I didn’t gel with it at all but it may be aimed at a younger audience.
The Hunger Games meets City of ember- an underground city on another planet where they’ve never seen the sun, have their names in a poll (‘lottery’) where they have to compete to the death to become the Ambassadors bride.

The writing, paragraph spacing and formatting isn’t great, and all has a very YA or younger feel to it. It’s not very well explained and lacks any world building. Any information or history is given by the characters telling it at each other.

The sentence structure is fairly erratic and dialogue is clunky.
Rocky start without any introduction to characters or world, I kept zoning out and getting bored, it’s very slow paced and not very plot driven, I also had to keep checking back to the synopsis to figure out who’s who /what’s going on.

Simplistic telling the story and world at you through stunted dialogue, very juvenile and simple.
Not very good or clear world building or descriptions. ( )
