"Gleaner's Moon" is a psychological thriller that revolves around obsession with revenge and how far one is willing to go to exact vengeance. I don't normally read this type of genre but I do enjoy books about kidnapping and escape from captors so I found the book very much a page-turner. Unfortunately, the kidnapper's identities and motives weren't much of a mystery as the first clue was too heavy-handed (unless the author purposely sprinkled these hints in and didn't mean for us to be left guessing.) With each event that unfolded I can't say I was surprised that it happened as the author gave substantial foreshadowing. It was difficult to like any of the characters as none of them were very likeable nor had many redeeming qualities. I found myself rooting only for the girl who was kidnapped, but even she was annoying and rude. I was also rooting for the detectives trying to solve the case. Some of the author's choices didn't make sense to me. For example, I didn't understand the purpose for cutting Millie's clothes off with a knife and leaving them to be found by police. It didn't seem to serve a purpose for their plan. I have to give credit to the author's great use of description as the scenes and characters were written vividly and I could clearly see them in my mind's eye. Some of the descriptions might have been overdone such as when the characters are screaming in times of high stress using multiple adjectives to describe people. Do people really talk like that? The British vernacular wasn't too hard to understand for me and I only had to look up a couple words. I really enjoyed how everything fit together throughout the story, giving the reader bits and pieces and leaving us to figure out how everything is going to play out. I thought the author created such an imaginative story about a psychic medium who almost cared more about her career and success than she did about her own daughter.

I quite enjoyed this book. There were twists and turns everywhere. This book dealt with taking down a fake medium.
If you have a chance you should read the book ( )
