Maybe this picture book would be okay for someone who thinks cockroaches are humorous. But this is a stretch too far for this grandma. The artwork is pretty chaotic, and the humor is kind of off beat. Roaches hitch a ride to school in a backpack, and disruptions abound. ( )

This story is told from the perspective of the cockroaches, to hilarious result. While the people in this book are horrified by the bugs, the roaches are friendly and enthusiastically joining in every human activity.

This is another humorous book in the Curious Cockroach series. Our friendly cockroach hitches a ride to school and has a great day with our class. My son enjoyed Your Birthday Was the Best! so this was a natural choice for him. It's a good choice for all but the most squeamish because they might start to like cockroaches. ( )

The story of a cockroach and his family that want to go to school with the other kids. It is a minimal book but soft artwork but a story that must be read-aloud to be impactful. Lots of moments for "Ewws," and other reactions from younger listeners. A well thought-through story, simple but clever twist, and soft but large textured artwork makes this work. ( )
