This book is more than your average colouring book. To begin with, it challenges kids to colour all the pages in the book as if they are going on an adventure. An adult can fill out a certificate of completion for the child. It uses the “colour-by-number” idea like the old colour-by-number painting kits which were popular with children and adults alike in the 1950s through to the 1970s. While some may argue that the paint-by-number idea contradicts the creativity of children, this book actually seems much more interesting and motivating than the average colouring book. Some of the images are quite simple and are more likely to appeal to preschool children while others are much more complex and may be enjoyed by older children or anyone who enjoys adult coloring books. The most intriguing and clever pages are those which appear to be filled with abstract shapes. Once the shapes are coloured according to their numbers an otherwise undetected image appears. A great feature of this book is that the pages could be printed out separately so if, for example, an activity coordinator at care home could use the more advanced colouring projects with residents. Overall, this colouring book is recommended for being interesting and enjoyable to colour. I received a printable PDF.file of this book from the author, and the following is my honest opinion. Being a senior citizen, this book brought me back to the days when I was a young child, and my mother bought me coloring books and a large box of different colored crayons. This book by Jennifer Trace contains over 80 pages of drawings to be colored-in and the specific colors to be used. The theory behind this is to have children learn how to follow instructions. Given the pandemic that all of us are facing, it gives children something constructive to do and having fun. The book gives children the ability to learn about following instructions. Finishing coloring a drawing gives children a sense of accomplishing something, especially when their parents take the coloring and places it on the refrigerator or kitchen wall. While this book has gotten created for children between the ages of four and eight, I found this book to give senior citizens, like myself, an activity that gives us something to use our creativity as we use colors of our choosing. It gives us something worthwhile doing to occupy the time we have all day. The above is the reason I’ve given Ms. Trace and this book 5 STARS. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

I requested this book because I have two nieces in the target age range, so I knew it would be something they could both enjoy. The variety in the pages stood out to me the most, as my nieces prefer different difficulty levels and this book catered to both. I also liked that for those just learning their colors and numbers, this would be a good way to show them both as well as a variety of shapes and animals. If you've got multiple children in this age range, printing out a few of these pages for them should keep them occupied for a little while. Thanks to the author for allowing me to review a copy! ( )
