Moontangled is the latest in the Harwood Spellbook series and focuses on the engagement of Caroline Fennel and Julianna Banks.

All politicians of Angland are female with the Bouddicate being the equivalent of the parliament and the highest post a politician can aspire to. But to be considered, a politician must be married to a powerful magician and, up until the events of the first book in the series, all magicians are male. Tanglewood is the first school for female magicians and the story occurs on the night of the ball held by the school to show off the achievements of its first batch of students.

Julianna is eagerly awaiting the guests because her secret fiancée, Caroline, will also be there; secret because they are biding their time until Julianna can prove that she is a powerful magician and Caroline's political career has advanced further. But Caroline has a bombshell for her.

Lovely - good to see these characters again. I thought the fae's intervention was rather obvious, but then I wasn't in the middle of things or under the stress both of them were. Happy ending, and I hope she writes more - I want to see how the repercussions of this story play out. ( )

This is a really sweet installment of the series focusing on a f/f side couple from the main plotline. I was glad to get their story, and to get a follow-up to some of the events in Thornbound. ( )

This was a sweet novella set after the last Harwood book. After speeding through Thornbound, this one is much more B-plot than A-plot. There's not big mystery, or political machinations, or anything like that. But in typical Burgis fashion, much of the plot was due to lack of communication. Juliana and Caroline finally work through their misunderstandings using some words, with some help.

3 stars. This felt more like an epilogue to the last book than its own story. There wasn't really enough here for me to get into the story. But still nice. ( )

Sweet, and very clever, but I'm always so frustrated when people simply don't communicate. And I am apparently not the only one. It's such fun to return to this universe of magic, love, and acceptance.
