Sobre mi biblioteca

When I was still at school, I fell in love with certain of the books I borrowed from the library, and decided to buy my own copies. If it was a series, since I couldn't afford to buy the whole series (which, in those days, were usually trilogies, or occasionally duologies), I would get the last book in a series - you might notice I've only got book 3 of some of the earlier published books, and, unfortunately, most of those series are now out of print. Once I started earning, of course, I could buy them all, so now, I try to get the whole series, if I like it (or, sometimes, just to complete the collection, even if I'm not that enamoured of the books). I try to get all the books in a series from the same publisher, and in the same binding, because I like my shelves to look neat (and I'm a bit pedantic that way!). I like to buy my books brand new, so they are pristine when I first open the cover with much anticipation for my next adventure. (And, if you haven't guessed, I'm a fantasy fan)

I do regret the out of print ones, though, because those were my early library, when I was being more selective, and they bring a sense of nostalgia; but now I can't re-read the rest of the series. I love the ethereal covers of fantasy books published in the UK in the 80s (by houses such as Corgi) and I wish I had had the courage - but mainly the pocket money - to have bought them for my own collection.

Useful information:

Colored Checkmarks

Several of the default collections have specific checkmark colors associated with them - namely the "Wishlist","Read but Unowned" and "Your Library" collections. Books you have catalogued that are not in one of these three collections will display a gray checkmark.

:: Wishlist - displays purple checkmark
:: Read but Unowned - displays blue checkmark
:: Your Library - displays green checkmark
:: any other collection - displays gray checkmark

Only one checkmark will be displayed, so if a book qualifies for more than one checkmark LT will display the color that is nearer to the top of the list above. (For example, if you borrowed a book from the library and read it and now want your own copy, you may have the book in your "Wishlist" collection and your "Read but Unowned" collection - a PURPLE checkmark will be displayed because "Wishlist" is higher on the list than "Read but Unowned").

Sobre mí
I'm 40+, going on 15, but I'm responsible for two little boys, who absolutely turn my world upside down (sometimes, unfortunately, literally). They seem to think I'm their age, so we have lots of fun together.

I seem to have successfully introduced my eldest to books - though his favourite time for reading is a minute after lights-out. My youngest loves his board books, which he usually flips through in any order, and preferably upside-down. As you can see, they rule my world, and so books (which had hitherto been my first love) must take a back seat.
I may have to rethink the 75 Books Challenge - unless Mr Men books count?...
