Size does matter when our customers expect an excellent range of books at reasonable prices. SIMS also prides itself for being a distinct cross-cultural hub with a wide range of multi-cultural events, such as ikebana, comic art demonstrations, language learning workshops, book launches, etc. held since its opening on 8th August, 1999.

Kinokuniya has moved up a floor at the request of the mall operator. The new store is smaller physically, but seems to have been able to maintain their huge collection. Kinokuniya has also started to promote their online bookstore.

With the death of Borders, and the conversion of Computer Books to online only, this is the last great bookstore in Singapore. I say "great" in the sense that it has a huge inventory, knowledgeable staff, good layout, and convenient location. As the previous commentor said, it is expensive, but it is also HERE. I pay the prices to ensure we still have a bookstore worth going to.

Kinokuniya has the largest selection of books (mostly English, Japanese) under one roof in Singapore. For reasons best known to themselves, their prices are the highest in Singapore. I've stopped buying anything from Kinokuniya since 2006; Amazon sells and ships books 20%-25% cheaper.
