Review
I chose to read this informational text on Epic. This is a platform that I have my students use constantly and help support their research and information, but that I rarely read on personally. It is a suggested platform to use with students and it is free during the school day for students between 8-3pm. After that they do need a subscription. It was great how it populated many recommendations after the read that directly connected to the book that I just read connecting me to other national parks.

A strength of this text was its format. It has strong text features that are clear and easy to follow that would be very helpful for an emerging reader. A particular strength were the bold words and glossary that would explain unknown terms to students. It also had a lot of clear pictures with captions that gave more reinforcement on content.

This is a great starter text and series for young emerging readers to learn about national parks. It would be great to support a research project, but students would need other supplemental texts as well to have well rounded research. ( )
