Learn all about Acadia National Park. It has full color photographs and explains all about the coastal structure, the sights and ecosystem, as well as what is in the park to explore. It is written for ages 6-8.
Review
I chose to read this informational text on Epic. This is a platform that I have my students use constantly and help support their research and information, but that I rarely read on personally. It is a suggested platform to use with students and it is free during the school day for students between 8-3pm. After that they do need a subscription. It was great how it populated many recommendations after the read that directly connected to the book that I just read connecting me to other national parks.
A strength of this text was its format. It has strong text features that are clear and easy to follow that would be very helpful for an emerging reader. A particular strength were the bold words and glossary that would explain unknown terms to students. It also had a lot of clear pictures with captions that gave more reinforcement on content.
This is a great starter text and series for young emerging readers to learn about national parks. It would be great to support a research project, but students would need other supplemental texts as well to have well rounded research.… (más)
