Animals making there home a better place by getting rid of the plastics and trash us humans have unfortunately left. This book teaches various themes like counting, how to be neat and to be kind to the living world. Our environment needs help not just the animals but the land and aquatic areas too. Yes, this book may have the animals of the sea cleaning our mess which is probably unrealistic and silly but the feeling is there. The message of the book is that one voice can start a movement but more than one can make that change happen. At least that is what I take from it. I enjoyed this sweet book and it lights a little flame within to fight for our world to be a better place. I actually won a Mobi.file copy of this book from the author through a giveaway she had on LibraryThing and the following is my honest opinion.My inner-child has always loved reading the adventures of this author’s educational Tovi the Penguin series of books, and this book has proven itself just as educational, even more so when you consider the environmental message it desires to communicate to its youngest of readers, that of regarding the pollution of our oceans with tons upon tons of plastic garbage. And that it will take everyone, just as all the sea creatures in this book, working together, in doing our small part, to help clean the ocean back to the way it once was. Adding to the charm of this book, besides the illustrations, is the manner Ms. Rossiter uses a rhyming scheme to tell the story. As a child, my young mind couldn’t resist reading any book by Dr. Seuss over and over again, because of the captivating nature of the rhyme being used, which grabbed and held my attention. Moms you must remember reading The Cat in the Hat as a child, a story which you might still remember bits and pieces of even today; so why not give your child the same sort of reading experience which at the same time communicates a very important message. This book uses cleaning the ocean of cotton buds, cups and other garbage as a teaching tool. The pictures are very blue and well drawn as well! I like that this unique idea is being used for a picture book. It's nice to see something to prominent like cleaning the ocean (and our environment) in a book like this! Why not kill two birds with one stone?
I did think it was a tad bit cheesey, but it's a children's book so it's expected. The important message of cleaning the world together and recycling really tied the book up too!
I'd definitely recommend reading this as a picture book to your youngings. It's a sweet little picture book that has a really strong and important message. Be a hero, not a zero!
