My daughter enjoyed this book. She said it was nice to see that the boy in the book struggled with writing words like she does. I am not sure this book helps with phonics but it is a sweet little book that children will enjoy reading. ( )Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Thanks for the ebook and a chance to review. I have lots of positive remarks: appealing story of a young learner trying to deal with spelling/phonics/decoding; absolutely great illustrations; nice use of the word "magic" which is likely to appeal to all kinds of kids; and the use of a font that enables young learners to recognize the alphabet letters the way we teach them. I teach elementary students in Japan, acquiring English as a foreign language and I know that learning the myriad ways of spelling is key to reading, writing, and enjoying English. When I asked them about the message of the book they had several: don't stop trying even if you get something wrong the first time, use a dictionary to help you spell, and it's okay to make mistakes. When I asked them if they thought I should read it to next year's class they voted 'yes'. It's a keeper! Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. I received this book in exchange for a review. As a teacher, I like the fact that this admits to children that phonics can be hard. This would be a good introductory book for kindergarten or first graders to teach them what phonics means and give some examples from Rudy. I also think this would be a good book for a unit on perseverance since Rudy works hard to fix his spelling. The pictures were very nicely drawn and fun. I do wish there was slightly more teaching about phonics, but overall I'm very pleased with the book. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
When learning to read, kids get frustrated, elated, misspell, grow, and this book shows every part in the process, through the eyes of a boy who can't get enough words! We got words spelled like they sound, misspellings "On Purpose," and the right way to solve some major reading and writing issues for early readers. See, Rudy makes a lot of mistakes learning to write, spell, and read. With every letter he gets wrong, with every word he crosses out, and with every time he gets frustrated, he grows. Rudy never gives up, and he knows with a lot of practice, help, and tons of questions, he will know All The Words Ever! No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
