70% of this book was forgettable and confirmed my bias of Gail Simone’s ability to write above average book. Most of the book was so surface level in characters and lacked the realism that I really like in books...she is like comics of old but with M content where i almost consider it adult campy (if that means anything)...but my early bias was mistaken with the last 30% of the book where I see now people like her. The Vandal savage plot was focused and had an unexpected villain, Mad Hatter, shine amazingly. Brad walker really brought her story to life and I hope that the stories will follow suite in this regard of storytelling
Best:
-Mad hatter defeating Dr psycho
-Knockout being burned alive and regenerating from her bed
-the torture scene and breaking out of their prison
Bad:
-most of this book was so hard to get through due to surface level writing and lack of interesting characters
-jokes fell flat
-characters seemed forced of how bad ass they are than them actually being bad ass
-the constant reminder of character tropes
-lack of clear or weak motivation ( )
