Was so excited to win this for a dear friend who loves working and building engines! He said the book is the best he's ever read and plans to share it with his friends who are also interested in engines. Thank you so much and best wishes on this amazing and helpful and educational book! Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. A few clarifications might be in order up front. First, this is not a book about the famous hemi of the 1960s. That engine, though it shares some characteristics with this power plant, was of a different time and different technology. That was the hemi spelled with a small "h". This book is about the engine with the brand name Hemi, spelled with a capital "H". Secondly, the equipment needed to tune and level of mechanical sophistication of these newer engines will make such work prohibitively expensive for the average garage or shade tree based hobbyist. But what this book, and other similar books addressing the building of modern engines, can do is increase the level of the reader's knowledge about the engine as well as provide a kind of blue print to follow when one is planning an engine upgrade or complete rebuild.Like all the fine CarTech books this is laid out in an orderly format starting with a general introduction to the subject and then chapter by chapter breaking down the engine and the work into systems staring, in this case, with the engine blocks and proceeding through eleven more chapters ending with the exhaust system. The last and thirteenth chapter deals with the all important engine break-in routine. The book is heavily illustrated with photographs, diagrams, and tables which add a great deal to the text. There are sidebars, highlighted in yellow, which provide additional detail to the subject under discussion. I found the chapter on camshaft selection particularly well written and dense with helpful, if not crucial, information. Clearly, the author knows his subject intimately and shares it with palpable enthusiasm. As I said at the beginning much of the information in this book provides an opportunity for the owner of a Hemi-powered car to more fully understand the engine in his vehicle and what further potential exists for that engine. Understanding how that further potential may be realized provides a map to planning and executing a rebuild. Whether the owner does his own work being lucky enough to have the myriad of equipment needed to do that work or whether he has it done professionally this book will be of great benefit. If you like the Hemi engine and like to piddle with them this is the book you need. Tells how to make even the ones of today faster and how to improve them. A keeper for your shelf for sure. This newest HOW TO book shows you how to soup up a Hemi engine! Well detailed information, concise explanations, great instructions. There are, as usual, loads of useful photographs for guidance. Grab one to add to your collection, before you dive in! You'll be glad it's on hand. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

The men in my husband's family are race car fanatics. A great weekend is one spent hanging out in someone's garage working on a vehicle or two. I seek out these books for that reason alone. And as I mentioned....they don't disappoint. When my husband reaches for this book...and it takes a few hours to put it down...then I know I'm going to give another great review. This time I passed this book over to a neighbor...they were quite intrigued by all the info and motivated to start working on their own projects. Always great graphics, great pics, chock-full of information. The author of this book, Larry Shepard is a "a distinguished engineer, parts manager, and racing coordinator, has a deep history within Chrysler Corporation and Mopar Racing". He's authored many other books and has a reputation for writing some great high performance rebuild manuals. In other words, he knows his stuff.
A great quality read, a wonderful guide, informative...highly recommend.
Thanks as always to the great people of LibraryThing and to the amazing people at CarTech for my free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review to which I gladly and voluntarily gave. ( )
