While we may all have different opinions on the best movies, TV shows, comics or books, I'm sure there's one thing we can all agree on whatever we love, it's because of the characters in it. Whether that's Han Solo and Chewbacca from Star Wars, the cast from Friends, or Batman, it's the characters and not the story lines that live long after the book or movie ends. But how do you create great fictional characters? Where do you begin? In 'The A-Z to Creating Believable Characters' I hope to end this character problem for you once and for all. Taking a simple and easy to follow process, I take you through the tips, tricks, and ideas I use to make characters so real that you can almost reach out and touch them. Remember when it comes to writing, a great cast of characters can save a weak and bland story line. Got the opposite, and it doesn't matter how many car chases, explosions or plot twists you use, it's dead on its feet. Take your fiction to a higher level today by clicking the buy button now.… (más)

LibraryThing Member Giveaway randomly chose me to receive this book. Although encouraged, I was under no obligation to write a review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. ( )

Although this endeavor by the author, Barry McDonald, seems to be quite short, the information it contains is concise and to the point.

If you read the reviews on Amazon written by readers for books they’ve, you’ll find the vast majority dwell solely on how great, how wonderful, how ….., the book in their opinion had been as they read it.
In the slow writing of my current adult Contemporary romance novel, which I’m still writing, somehow intuitively sensed I needed to increase my attention to the characters, especially the ones who were the protagonists. Perhaps this is due to my now being a voracious book reviewer, who after posting my reviews, goes on to the other reviews which have been submitted.

Mr. McDonald has taken concept of character based story writing and has broken it down into 26 blocks of easily digested interlocking pieces of information for the minds of aspiring authors to absorb on its own terms. The author doesn’t merely spurt this information haphazardly, he presents it in a manner which continuously builds on itself.

And as in any learning process, the author uses his own life experiences as an author to enhance this learning process, and give his readers the tips and tricks he has learned.

For his willingness to help all aspiring reach their potential and dreams of becoming a successful author of fiction, how more than happily to give this book, 5 STARS. ( )
