I was glad to receive this novel for review. I liked this novel okay, but for me it was just okay. It was refreshing in the sense that there was no excess of graphic sex scenes (for once, thank heavens), and most parties have happy endings. The book centers around 3 separate families who all happen to be from Ireland and meet up on an intimate cruise through the Caribbean. The families stick together for the trip due to them all being Irish, and even afterward. They all end up wrapped up in several friendships and relationships with each other. As far as the plot goes: I found that certain large issues were wrapped up so quickly when they were really interesting. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Independently of each ofther, three Irish families spend their Christmas holidays on a Caribbean cruiser. Their they not only met each other and become friends for life. They love, divorce, even murder!Easy reader with a lot of emotions inside. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. All at Sea by Pauline Lawless is a fun read. It's sort of like a written soap opera. I would have given it 5 stars, but the e-copy I received did not work well on my kindle at all. The print was so tiny, and trying to enlarge it just made the spacing between lines larger. I don't know what the problem was, the shorts at the end of the book were just fine. The book could have been shorter, but it was kind of nice knowing what happened to the characters when they went back to their normal lives. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Relationships develop and others unravel when three Irish families meet on a Caribbean cruise at Christmas. What was expected to be a relaxing and entertaining trip comes to include infidelity, theft, heartache, healing and even an unexpected death. Some of the characters are stereotypes, some are given little to do, but others get more than a vacation's worth of excitement and drama. I enjoyed the book very much even if at times I wanted to knock some sense into some misbehaving characters and yell "Get a clue!" at some oblivious characters. In the end those whom I wanted to have happy endings and those who deserved grief got it in spades. An enjoyable beach (or cruise) read. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
Could there be a better Christmas present than a luxury Caribbean cruise? Dublin socialite Bunny McElroy thinks not and invites her family on one for the holidays. Her husband Richard is not so sure about it, and her son Gavin and his down-to-earth wife Fiona are apprehensive about spending two weeks cooped up with his family. But even they could never imagine the havoc Bunny’s two beautiful daughters, Sarah and Jess, will cause on board. Meanwhile Tony Kenny, a wealthy Galway businessman, fed up with his wife’s family who descend on them every Christmas, thinks a cruise is the perfect way to escape them. His timid wife Ann is nervous about it all but, as always, Tony gets his way. His children are less than enthusiastic but, as it turns out, their handsome son Jack is pleasantly surprised by the action on board and his shy sister Emily begins to come out of her shell. Declan Jordan is terrified that his sexy mistress Alix will reveal their affair to his classy wife Cassie, so he whisks Cassie away for what he promises will be a second honeymoon. However, it turns out to be anything but ... This group form what they laughingly call ‘the Irish Mafia’ on board the Liberté and, between the drama and the shenanigans, there is never a dull moment! An easy, simple read. None of the characters are very deep and their conflicts are very neatly tied up happily at the end. ( )
