From the opening lines to the closing ones it’s non-stop suspense. Rachael Long runs a day-care center. One morning she has to try to fight off a man trying to kidnap one of the babies in her care. In the process, she unmasks the assailant. In comes First Response Commander Jake Marsh to save the day. Now he must protect Rachael from a would-be killer. Can Jake save Rachael and put his past behind him so he can find true love? Find out in Christmas Conspiracy. Christmas Conspiracy, the sixth book of the First Responders series (and sadly the last) we finally get to meet Jake Marsh, the commander of the first response team. While on the way to a meeting Jake and a couple members of the team receive a kidnapping in progress at Rachael Long’s day care center. I think one of the funniest scenes is when Jake is bring the baby back to the center and she starts fussing. (You’ll have to read it to find out what it is.) Both Jake and Rachael have lost loved ones and it has shaped their lives, so much so that it has closed them off of living fulfilling lives. They both recognize that in each other. I think this book is my favorite from the whole series. The story line was good, but what made it the best was that I couldn’t figure out the bad guy. I’ve read enough suspense books in my life that you can pick up on clues as to who the culprit will be, but that wasn’t so with this story. I absolutely loved this series, getting to know each team member, who they become involved with and I was really intrigued by their unique living situation. I highly recommend this book, the series and anything that Susan Sleeman has written. "Hot, ugly eyes stared at Rachael from black circles in the gunman's mask." Susan Sleeman again proves her excellence as a writer in her Christmas Conspiracy, #6 First Responders. She emotionally reaches in and pulls out your heart in the very first sentence. Not until the final sentence can you retrieve your heart again. This volume is Jake's story. He finds himself defending a day-care worker,Rachael, and her charge from a murderous abductor. He also has to defend her from the accusations and suspicions of hid own team members. The story and its conclusion read all too much like headlines. No believability issues here. But oh, the tension between living in the past or moving forward;listening to regulations or one's heart! If you love romantic suspense, you can't go wrong with Susan Sleeman's latest. While the series doesn't have to be read in order, relationships appear from other stories. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This review is freely offered, and opinions are my own. Title: Christmas Conspiracy (First Responders #6) Author:Susan Sleeman Pages:219 Year:2016 Publisher: Love Inspired My rating is4 stars. Jake Marsh is a member of the First Responders Team, a law enforcement team specially equipped to deal with hostage situations, bombs/explosives and investigations. They respond to a 911 call at a child day care center after the report of a masked man seen entering the facility. They find the center’s director unconscious. After recovering, the director, Rachael Long, can’t remember what her attacker looked like. She remembers pulling off his mask, but that is all. As the investigation gets underway, Rachael knows she is a suspect. She doesn’t like it as she would never harm anyone let alone a child. She soon realizes her attacker knows where she lives and doesn’t know she can’t remember what he looks like as he threatens her with increasing violent threats. Jake takes her into protective custody for her own safety. It becomes obvious that Rachael isn’t involved with her attacker, but the attacker seems to know a lot about Rachael. Jake feels protective toward Rachael and wants her safe at all costs. Rachael and Jake admit they have feelings for each other, but each has vowed to remain single for guilt-induced reasons, tying them to the past. Here is another way to spend an exciting afternoon! There is plenty of tension, suspense and drama packed into this little book. Jake and Rachael have both fallen in the habit of giving their all for everyone else and denying themselves. They have both dedicated their lives to helping people in dangerous or poor conditions. Rachael’s faith has remained steadfast while Jake’s has not seen much use lately. When the situation involves the heart, will they each trust God completely? This is another easy gift for the Christmas season that will be sure to please. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
