INTRIGUING INSPIRATIONAL STORY

Best-selling author Susan Sleeman has a gift for writing First Lines. Her first line in her latest release, Shadow of Hope, is an excellent example of how she uses it to entice readers straight into wanting to know all of her story: “He was at her front door, and he was going to kill her.” Once Sleeman has grabbed your attention, she will keep it with her original, intriguing, inspirational story.

Sleeman has created two main characters, Ava Weston and Micha Nichols. She has chosen these two because they both need each other, but they do not yet know. Ava is on the run after being falsely accused of murder. She signed up for Shadow Lake Survival’s immersive survival training camp to sharpen her survival skills and learn to survive off the grid. Micha’s family runs Shadow Lake Survival, and he is the weapons expert. He rotates with the other staff members, taking campers out for a week. He is sharp enough to recognize that something seems a little off with Ava’s story, but he chooses to observe her rather than react. Someone threatens Ava’s life, and Micha makes it his mission to get her to safety and solve the problem of who is after her and why. When Ava admits she has been falsely accused Micha feels compelled to help her. As they continue to get to know one another, they realize it is becoming more difficult to deny the sparks flying between them. Shadow of Hope: (Shadow Lake Survival - Book 4) por Susan Sleeman

Shadow of Hope, the fourth book in the Shadow Lake Survival series, is a fast-paced, romantic, suspenseful on-the-run/off the grid story steeped in faith. The well-crafted cast of characters features strong, protective hero Micha and compassionate, wrongly accused fugitive heroine Ava along with the wonderful members of the Lake Shadow Survival Team who are dedicated to helping Ava and Micha uncover the truth about the crime Ava is accused of and protect her from being killed. The action-packed plot kept me immersed in the story from beginning to end and guessing at the outcome. The romantic attraction between Ava and Micha builds as the danger escalates. I greatly appreciate the inspiring faith thread woven throughout the story. I enjoyed this book and think fans of Christian Romantic Suspense will too! Note: Although there are carryover characters from the previous books in the series, this one can easily be read as a standalone.

Cold Silence: A Cold Harbor Novel por Susan Sleeman

Cold Silence is a prequel to Susan Sleeman’s Cold Harbor series. It was such fun to revisit the characters in this series. I’m amazed at how the author connects the characters and teams from her different series together. It’s like visiting old friends. I also enjoy learning more about crime-solving techniques in Sleeman’s books. She’s great at researching and letting the reader know about law enforcement procedures and new tools to combat crime.

Cold Silence features Green Beret Travis Chapman and researcher Claire Reed as they work together to find the person who has stolen Claire’s research project. They have a past history, and Travis is tasked with protecting Claire and helping solve the theft.

With lots of action, suspense, inspiration, and some romance thrown in, this story kept me turning the pages to the end. 4. 5 stars
