The Great War is over. The Robots have won. The humans who survived have two choices--they can submit and serve the vicious rulers they created or be banished to the Reserve, a desolate, unforgiving landscape where it's a crime to be human. And the robots aren't content--following the orders of their soulless leader, they're planning to conquer humanity's last refuge. With nothing left to lose, Six, a feisty, determined young woman whose family was killed with the first shots of the war, is a rebel with a cause. On the run for her life after an attempted massacre, Six is determined to save humanity before the robots finish what the Great War started and wipe humans off the face of the earth, once and for all.… (más)

I want a sequel.

I suppose I should write more than that, but it ended with me wanting more. And you know there are more androids than in just that area. Come on. ( )

This book is trashy. It's entertaining, but it's just so poorly done that I couldn't take it seriously.

The idea of the story is great, but it wasn't fleshed out enough. It jumps forward too often, missing opportunities to develop scenes and characters in a way that would make me care for them. It felt rushed, like the authors couldn't wait to be done with the story. It could have been so much more.

I think what really broke my immersion in the story, though, are all of the unbelievable actions taken by the characters. Why would humans on a reservation use numbers forced on them by robots to refer to themselves instead of names? How does someone with a gunshot wound drag a 6.5' tall robot around? How does a stretcher made of clothes support its weight? How does a piled up shirt and pants enable a head in the back seat to see over a dashboard? How did Dubs find Six after he stole Miki's police car (I listened to the audiobook so probably have the names spelled wrong)? Why would Six's brother make the choice he did at the end and why would the hubots allow his presence? How do you explain why hubots followed the Premiere? Or how did they not know?

It's just full of so many holes that it falls apart as an internally logical story. I get it. It's SciFi, but even SciFi has to make sense.

Three stars instead of two because it was a "feel good" story. ( )

This...is not a good book. Sure there are some interesting moments and the overall message is a time-tested one in sci-fi. But between unresolved plot points, creepy illustrations, a very ham-fisted ending, and a whole host of other issues, I was relieved when this book was over. ( )
