After a friend fails English, the plans that 13-year-old Jax and his friends had for a summer at Camp Runamuck go out the window. But miraculously, the teacher offers a chance to earn extra credit. The students must find several fake artifacts to include in a display on fairy tales at the local library. But finding junk isn't as easy as it sounds. And when the group discovers that the teacher has cut the same deal with more than 50 kids, it's a race to the finish line in an effort to save their summer vacation. When the search through junk uncovers the truth, that one of the artifacts they're searching for is real and can be used to rewrite the endings of fairy tales; things get real pretty quickly! To secure the artifact, the friends will fight fairy tale villains and compete against heroes and classmates to see who can get their hand, hook, claw, or fin on it first.… (más)

It's a fun idea, but very juvenile and not well written. It could have used a lot of rewriting before being published. Regardless, I think the fun nature will help the book find an audience anyway. ( )

To read this as an adult, you need to transport yourself back to when you didn't think about dumb things like practicality and reality. You know, when you planned to run away to live in the woods behind your grandparent's house in a fort, eating blackberries to stay alive. Never mind that you lived 3000 miles and two countries away and it was not blackberry season. Oh wait. That was me. This book is a lot like that. It's every middle-schooler's dream -- teacher ARE evil villains, the kids are the heroes and save the day with no adult interference! I've got a long list of kids to recommend the book to. ( )

This story incorporated the fun of an adventure while combining elements of a fairy tale. The students in a certain teacher's class are on a mission to find artifacts for a display and since so many of them are looking, the have to find ways to outwit the other students as well as the owners of the artifacts. A cute story for all ages. ( )

This was an adventure story about middle school students who are looking to find the "artifact" before Captain Hook! This adventure story incorporated other fairy tale characters and objects. The book was very engaging and great fun to read. The author gave the middle school characters their own personalities that really made them relate-able to middle school students and their awkwardness which made this story quite funny. This book was great fun to read with its fantasy and "evil" vs good! I hope this was just the beginning to a new series! ( )

Une court roman d’aventure pour enfants, tournant autour des contes de fées percutant le contemporain.

C’est bien écrit, et agréable à lire, mais vraiment destiné à un public jeune.
