I received this as an early reviewer giveaway. I have read select essays/selections from the book. I like that the author keeps reiterating that teachers know their classes best, and he does offer some salient points with which I agree and/or need to consider. However, a focus of the book is changing the methodology/testing, etc of gifted children. While I may agree with much of what the author says, as a classroom teacher, these changes are not always within my control.

So, if you are looking for information for a paper (like one other reviewer) or a theoretical gifted education utopia, then this is the book for you. it might be a good book to get into the hands of the proper administrator to effect change. However, if you are looking for a book of practical ideas and classroom activities, this is not the right book.

I am going to donate my book to our school library to go into the teacher resource area. ( )

I have not read the entire book. I have used this more for reference. I find this book to be extremely helpful. I work with kids with special needs and the ideas that are given in the book are extremely insightful! I am using the book to help with a paper I am writing for school. I feel that this book will be very useful for a long time to come.
