It was supposed to be a love story.... I knew she was out of my league but I didn't care. Looking back, I wonder if I hadn't pursued her, would things have turned out differently? Is it Fate that determines our choices in life? God? Free will? Or just plain old innate selfishness? I got her, of course. There hadn't been a girl I wasn't able to seduce. Problem was she seduced me right back, body, mind, and soul. She possessed me, tormented me, and showed me a world that was so bright and pure I was almost blinded. Didn't she know after such a drug I could never settle for less? Didn't she realize no matter how many times I screwed up, or broke her heart, or bent her to my will, I'd never be able to let her go? If I hadn't known such intensity existed, would it have been better for both of us? True love, the real kind, isn't nice and sweet and pure. No, it's dirty, and sinful, and messy. It's like ripping a chunk of flesh from your body and watching yourself bleed out in slow, helpless intervals until you thankfully pass out. This isn't a love story. But it's the only story I got. James and Quinn steam up the pages again in Chasing Me. Their chemistry will pull you in and keep you on the edge of your seat in this deliciously sexy story of love, trust, and forgiveness. --NYT and USA Today Bestselling Author Kelly Elliott "Probst brought an unexpected edge to CHASING ME. She tests her characters' loyalty, trust and love for each other, making readers question the outcome of the story. I held my breath with anticipation from the beginning until the very last page. Fans of Quinn and James will not be disappointed " -- Under the Covers Book Blog… (más)

Awesome read! After meeting in Key West during last years spring break, a young couple, Quinn & James, struggle with finding their way in life and their relationship. James moved to Chicago to be with Quinn and is struggling with being the man he thinks Quinn deserves. Quinn is still in school, working hard and trying to find the time to just be with and enjoy James but she feels something is different.

Great story with a wonderful romance at the core. I highly recommend this one!! ( )

Although I do understand that this book is the second installment in a series, I simply cannot say that I would be interested in reading the first book. This tragically dramatic, immature romance was quite predictable and redundant. It becomes very clear from the beginning of the novel that there is a huge obstacle in the primarily primal sexual relationship between James and Quinn: insecurity. Every single chapter, regardless of whether it was through James' or Quinn's narration, repeatedly conveyed the insecurity of each of them in regards to their relationship. Could they make it? Does Quinn deserve better? Is Quinn holding James back from his creativity in his art? Is their love enough? Most of these mental dilemmas are only temporarily resolved through sex. Which is an additional issue because James is holding back his apparent primal instinct to tear Quinn apart in sex, which bothers Quinn. Furthermore, the readers are constantly reminded in each chapter that James is, in fact, a trust fund baby. He could just throw all of this struggle away and sail off in a yacht with a million dollars to blow just by making one phone call to his parents. I get the concept of having to prove yourself, which both characters do, and I get the concept of individuality, but the repetition and consistent insecurity felt like it was all to make the book longer. One last thing: I am convinced that Ava, James' art teacher/mentor, dressed like Cruella DeVille. Every time (and I do mean every time) she is introduced into a scene in the book, she is wearing red and black.

Chasing Me is the continuation of James' and Quinn's story from Beyond Me, with some interesting changes. They have moved to Chicago together, and James has now left behind the comforts of his rich lifestyle to pursue his interest in art in an effort to become a man worthy of Quinn's love. Perhaps that is the aspect that I loved the most about this story. The fact that James' goes through a remarkable maturing process and its all driven by his love for Quinn.

Quinn is also advancing in her career objectives. However, all of these positive changes do not come without a price. Like in the real world, Chasing Me highlights the difficulties of attempting to nurture true love while at the same time dealing with life's realities. As a result, James' and Quinn's love for one another will be challenged by insecurities and fears like never before. Will their commitment to one another be strong to survive in the end?

What a real, poignant and touching story. Interestingly, while I had not been expecting a sequel to Beyond Me, I think Chasing Me does a great job of further developing James' and Quinn's story. If you enjoyed Beyond Me, then you definitely will not want to miss Chasing Me.

Chasing Me: Sex on the Beach is a true romance novel - true as in realistic and engaging. The story of Quinn and James follows the same lines as other romance novels, but this one shows the true messiness of love. Quinn and James' romance is plagued by doubts - those instilled by others, those due to their own insecurities. It is a powerful look at all of the factors that can get in the way of a true relationship. In the end, Quinn and James have to decide what is best for them. Excellent story, I couldn't wait to see how it ended. ( )

I received a copy for a honest review.
I started this book without reading the first one but I understood there was a bet between James (H) and his rich buddies over Quinn (h) and when Quinn ran back to Chicago James dropped everything and followed her to Chicago and things worked out because in this book they were building a relationship and professed their love for each other alot. This book was them trying to keep their relationship growing when there are outside forces trying to pull them apart. It was a good book, I knew right from the moment Prof. Skank was introduced in the book going to be trouble for James. My only criticism and why only four stars was James came off a little whiney about how he was once rich. The book was a good sunny day read and I recommend it. ( )
