It's a future that feels not far removed from today, and explores both the good that could happen, and the flip side as every advancement has the potential to fuel the evil elements in mankind. So in this novel we have Brennan Craft, who has figured out how to tap into the boundless quantum energy in the universe. He was part of a small group who developed this ability, including Omar Haddad. He's a Syrian who has taken his powers to an unbelievable level and now believes he is a God. He's killed off all the others accept Brennan. Brennan has to figure out how to take Brennan out, which he does in part by hooking up with Alyssa Aronson who has some research ability about how the subconscious mind works. It's an interesting ride, and explores some fascinating ideas. Well worth the read. I have a minor gripe about the lack of character development of the women in his books, but it's not a huge detractor from the ideas being explored. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
A mind-blowing new thriller from the NY Times bestselling author of WIRED "Richards is a worthy successor to Michael Crichton." --SF Book.comOmar Haddad is a brutal jihadist in Syria who appears to be invulnerable and capable of supernatural feats. But is Haddad divine, as he claims? And what, exactly, is keeping him from unleashing the global apocalypse he's so eager to bring about? Brennan Craft, a quirky quantum physics genius, has the answers, and the US military is desperate to capture him. But when Craft risks everything to recruit a Black Ops researcher named Alyssa Aronson, it becomes clear he's playing a treacherous game of his own. Hunted by both the military and Haddad, Craft and Alyssa race to find a way to keep the unstoppable jihadist in check. But there may not be any way. And Alyssa soon fears that Craft is becoming an even bigger threat to the world than Omar Haddad . . .Quantum Lens is a smart, roller-coaster-ride of a thriller crammed with intriguing concepts readers will be contemplating long after they've read the last page. Quantum Lens was quite a bit different than the other books I've read from Douglas Richards.
The storyline was much less technical than philosophical and the pacing of the plot was crazy like a fox.
I enjoyed the exploration of power vs ethics in the context of the developing human psyche.
Read it for yourself and determine whether you agree with the author's premise. ( )
