This book was a series of interviews with women in various stages of life, focusing on the changes in their sexuality and sex life. Some were truly touching, but there was an imbalance of negative stories--adultery, divorce, impotence--compared to the positive, making it a bit of a downer to read. There were a few stories that were interesting, but for the most part I just skimmed thru the stories. Not really impressed. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Based on the title, I was very interested in this book, but it ended up being very little beyond a series of interviews and personal essays. Some were quite touching and personal, but many were fairly generic and failed to add much. Other than one or two stories, the book failed to have much to say or leave much of an impression. Sex After is not for someone looking for clinical data about sex after various events in women's lives. Primarily based on interviews, the anecdotal information covers women's choice of sexual experiences in their "roaring" 20s; before and after marriage; after a male partner's illness or injury; pregnancy and after the birth of a child; after infidelity and after divorce; after coming out; after breast cancer; after menopause; and sex in later years for men and women, with an emphasis on sex for Golden Girls. Much content in the book's first few sections has been written about in other places, although every interview was a heartfelt statement that was important to the interviewee. The coming out chapter focused on previously married women, but unfortunately did not include women who realized they were gay at an early age and chose not to be with a man. The interview by a woman whose husband lost a leg in war is particularly poignant and illuminating. Perhaps the most important chapters were on sex after breast cancer, after menopause, and "his aging parts" because they explained these physical events that are sometimes scary, confusing and isolating. Reading about the experiences may help clarify and humanize these sometimes dehumanizing chapters in our lives. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
