Nothing particularly bad, but this survey of roughly 1858-1933 through the eyes of a fictional groom seemed a bit contrived and not overly satisfying. ( )

Another very T.H. White book by T.H. White. He has some very negative things to say about organized sports and spectatorship. He's correct, I think. ( )

It is a lovely book, beautifully describing a world which no longer exists, and insisting that there is value in remembering the past. The author captures and records some of the commonplace, mundane, and fleeting fragments of life in the Victorian and Edwardian eras. He tells his story by focusing on the ordinary life, one affected by the important events of the time, but not integral to them. Continued ( )
