Loving Lydia tells the tale of an afternoon interlude between two smart, sexy women, Tammy and Lydia. Tammy wants Lydia desperately. She finally works up the nerve and stops into Lydia's gym hoping to get a chance with her dream girl. Brown's short-short is quick and to the point. The story quickly moves from gym to a coffee shop where the two women spend some time trying to figure out just what the other wants. Again, Brown is straight-forward. Once at the coffee shop, after some brief questioning from Tammy, Lydia makes it very clear what her sexual preference is.Lydia decides she's ready for something more in her life than corporate leadership and embarks on an afternoon encounter with Tammy that could turn into something more. Loving Lydia gets 3 stars for the clarity and sensuousness of the writing. You can almost smell the crisp tang of apples when Tammy waxes poetic over Lydia's hair. The only disappointment was the brevity of the story.More reviews from Barb Manning are available at www.barbmanning.net sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

To be honest, there is not a lot one can say about a story that barely spans eighteen pages, but there is something to say for a story that is short but manages to be interesting and spicy in so few pages. Berengaria Brown certainly does not waste words in getting to the good stuff; our intrepid couple quickly jumps from the gym to the coffee house to Lydia's house for a bit of rumpy-pumpy, all in the span of four to five pages. I've read romance novels where by the fifth page, the main couple has not even met yet - but, of course, this is a short short story, so the courtship is cut short. Still, you get enough of a read of both characters to care enough about them for the time you spend reading about them. Sure, I can lament the lack of real characterization development, but given the limits of the short story itself, Loving Lydia can be forgiven for giving these things the cursory glance.
As for the other part of Loving Lydia - the sex scenes - they are about as long as the actual story itself. But they are pretty hot and heavy, even if some of the language becomes heavy-handed; I personally could do without the word 'honey' in my sex scenes, but your mileage may vary. It's pretty clear that the main focus of the story is the smut, and given that the highlight of the story is that, readers can be assured that the smut is indeed pretty darn smutty. Overall, Loving Lydia is the epitome of wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am f/f erotica, dovetailing an interesting story with some entertaining sex scenes to make a worthy short story for fans of the genre.
