It's not a book that I would read to my child but I guess it was okay.., ( ) Such a nice "feel-good" story and what beautiful illustrations. Lisbeth Zwerger is one of my favourite illustrators and this book doesn't disappoint. She seems to have evolved her own style ...away from the rather Rackham-esque style of "The Nightingale" (which I really liked) to something that is a bit more abstract: weird perspective and lots of free space....but still with a touch of realism about the animals for example. The Robbers meal...complete with spilt red wine and robbers with their heads in their plates is great. And I love the way she has captured the donkey...especially on the cover and on p3 (the pages are unnumbered). Something about his gentleness and age....captured beautifully. Also a great rooster on p15. All in all a lovely book.....beautifully bound and printed. Happy to give it 5 stars. Lindsey Johnson Book # 5 Grade Level – Primary Genre- Traditional literature Book Summary: The donkey hears that his master is not going to feed him anymore because he is old so he decides to go to Bremen-town to be a musician. On the way he meets a dog, a cat, and a rooster who are all facing the same fate. They all decided to go to Bremen-town and become musicians. On the way they come across some robbers eating in a house. They scare them away and eat their food. Personal Reaction: This is a very cute book. The children will enjoy reading about the animal’s adventures. Extension Activities: 1. What might the animals do next after they have scared off the robbers? 2. Write an alternate ending. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
