I went into this book hoping for another The Da Vinci Code. The Guardian was good, but not quite what I was looking for, not quite up to the standards I was expecting. The mystery/suspense of finding the lost scroll was really interesting, I was just hoping for a little more historical/religious facts. I did like the intrigue surrounding the Pope and his Cardinals. I actually felt a little sad to think that such corruption exists. I hope it is not like that in real life.

The writing style of the book reminded me of the Left Behind series. At times the dialog seemed a little forced. The characters I was most intrigued by were Hale and the rest of the airplane flight crew. I would have like to seen more of them in the book. I felt the budding romance between Anna and Jason was a little too expected. They both seemed like people who had not had a lot of life experience, and at times their naivety was annoying.

The book was good, but not great. I am glad that I got a free copy of this.

I received this book for free through the goodreads first reads program. ( )

Ehh ...
How very much I want to say that this is an excellent read, but I just can't. The story, itself, is terrific. The writing is, at times, very mediocre. Just when you begin to believe in a character, the writer(s) takes the character completely out of character. It's frustrating.

One can also tell where one of the writers took over the writing from another. One of the two is pretty talented. ( )

I loved this book! It was such an original story. I like how God used Anna for His purposes even before she became a believer. ( )

I enjoyed the Guardian. It was a well written suspenseful novel. I liked the pace of the book and it seemed to flow in a way that made it not only an easy read but a quick read as well. Very suspenseful and as others have mentioned had that Da Vinci Code feeling to it. I would recommend this book to fans of Dan Brown. ( )

As a Catholic and former Catechism Teacher for three Years, I am always intrigued by conspiracies involving the church. I found this book to be well written, and as far as I can tell, well researched. While written as a Thriller, it is also a book of faith in the Lord, the Church, and oneself! It was difficult to put down once started. Many times I reread passages from the Bible mentioned in the book. I found it an enjoyable experience and would recommend this to anyone interested in thrillers and/or Church conspiracies. As I write this review, I can easily see myself rereading this in the near future. ( )
