You definitely have to pick up the next one to appreciate it. ( )This was probably one of my favorites of the three I read. I like Joe in the previous tale and was happy to see he survived and he's joined the cause. Just wish it was a little longer and didn't leave off at the peak of the climax!! Makes you want the next book!! The only thing I didn't like was that it was one long monologue to his son and I would have liked a little conversation from the kid so we know who is the next generation. Joseph is down on his luck and running a little dive bar in London. When he feels he can’t go on, he decides to hang himself. As he is making preparations, a guy, Joshua, walks into the bar and asks if he needs some help. From there they start talking and Joshua offers Joseph a job. Realizing there is nothing left for Joseph, he agrees. Joseph is then taking to another planet and taught about the history and inhabitants of the planet. This is one of the dead planets that Nua’Lath has killed with his horde. There were some survivors that have slowly rebuilt. Joseph is now part of the Resistance, a group of people that are trying to stop Nua’Lath. Joseph is supposed to find the last stand of the former inhabitants and to find out what happened. Joseph is then left to his task. He starts walking down an abandoned road and finds Bailey. Bailey is a scavenger that recycles everything that is found in the abandoned lands. He then sells that to the few communities. Together they look for the final stand of the people of this planet. I really liked this story. There was great imagery and imagination. This was a quick read but I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait for other books in this series. I really want to find out what happens next. I received this book for free from the Library Thing Early Reviewer program. Esta reseña ha sido escrita para Sorteo de miembros LibraryThing. Engaging story, despite the many errors. I wasn't blown away, but I think many people would enjoy it, especially as it's a short read. The premise is also quite intriguing. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
