Gerin the Fox and his pal Van of the Strong Arm are back again in the 3rd book in this series. Gerin is desperately trying to keep civilization alive in the North while being beset by more barbarian enemies. Like the previous books, Gerin is trying to consolidate his hold on the north while keeping the gods from interfering too much. These books are well paced, well written, and have good characters and excellent plots. They feel like historical fiction but are definitely fantasy. Excellent reading. It seems these books are overlooked by many readers, which is a mistake. ( )
