Fiction. Mystery. HTML:

Monday morning, a young mother disappears after a doctor's appointment. Monday evening, a young socialite leaves a risqué lounge and never makes it home. Detective Jackson lands both cases, but at first he can't find signs of foul play. When the socialite turns up dead, his investigation uncovers her dirty secrets, which complicates everything. The case runs into even bigger trouble with a suspect who hasn't left his house in a year. Jackson must push all the boundaries to find the connection and answer the question: Where is the other missing woman?… (más)

I enjoyed the story, although the prose is fairly pedestrian, perhaps more so because the narrator more or less reads in a monotone. It is a police procedural, with little revealed until the conclusion and then, not so much by the detective's efforts so much as a person'surprising sudden confession. Minor spoiler:This confession comes out of the blue from someone whom the detective had initially included but discounted as a suspect. In addition, for a detective with as much experience as Jackson purportedly has, he seems far too trusting of the perpetrators. It seems that he is going to be reprimanded, rightfully IMO, for not following usual protocols for handling suspects and allowing himself to be played. ( )

I really liked this book, the characters were written to have a real family feel to them. You don’t see that a lot in many books or movies any more. It was nice to see.. I wish I could have read the first two books also. Nice ending…. lol. ( )

I somehow received a signed copy of this book from the Author, maybe as an Early Reviewer and when I finally got around reading it I found it most enjoyable.I intend to read the rest of her books. ( )

I received this novel through the Member Givaway program with Library Thing and had not read the previous books in this series.

I found the action a little slow at first – isn’t that always the way? It soon held my interest, however, as the story developed and I began to ‘feel’ the characters. I wouldn’t call it a cliff hanger but it is one of those stories that plays with your sleuthing and you soon realize that there is little likelihood of your figuring out who did it. When you reach the end, you realize just how unlikely that really was.

I can definitely recommend this novel to the ‘Who did it’ lover and although not my favourite genre, I have to admit that I did enjoy the story. ( )
