It was okay for a first read, but I couldn't bring myself to read it again. I have no desire to pick up anything else by this author ( )

Jeremiah Fall is a soldier that has traveled a very long road. On a mission... traveling far and wide to take back his humanity. He seeks an ebony stone. But will it hold the cure he is looking for or damn the whole world.

The story begins in 1799- but Jeremiah's journey begins in 1644. I don't think I've come across a vampire like Jeremiah, he's quite special. I reveled in both the vampire and historical parts of the story. But it did take me a bit longer than normal to finish this book. There were a few slow spots for me, but it was absolutely worth it. Blood Prophecy turned out to be a fantastic tale filled with action and adventure. Stefan Petrucha weaves a dark and stunning story of fantasy & history. A must read. ( )

BLOOD PROPHECY feels like a throwback to the old adventure novels of the late 19th century (e.g. KING SOLOMON’S MINES) but with one very modern twist: vampires.

Weaving together fact and fiction with a new vampire mythology that reimagines the biblical Creation account, BLOOD PROPHECY follows the vampiric birth of Jeremiah Fall from the early Puritan settlements in America, across the deserts of Egypt and the coasts of France, touching on the legend of Atlantis and the lost city of Ys, in search of answers to what he is, and the hope of returning to what he was.

The writing is very good, extremely descriptive without getting bogged down with unnecessary details. The character of Jeremiah Fall himself is as close to flesh and blood as fiction can get (his turning is one of the best I’ve read in a long while). But the vampire mythology was my favorite part of BLOOD PROPHECY with it’s archaeological connection to a second Rosetta Stone.

I did find myself getting impatient with the pacing, and thought the journey to the final showdown was unnecessarily tedious. And apart from Jeremiah (and his horse), none of the other characters were memorable. Still, unique mythology and a realistic tortured hero make BLOOD PROPHECY worth a read.

Blood Prophecy has a historical angle, a tad bit of romance all wrapped up with Paranormal elements. Jeremiah Fall is an early American settler who is attacked by a beast that he uncovered while plowing his fields. His Father dies only to come back and attack him and his mother. They both die and Jeremiah ends up coming back to "life" as a vampire. He has to learn how to keep the beast under control and resist his evil cravings. While he travels to find out what he is and if there is a cure he comes across the Rosetta stone. The stone is an evil thing that will end up destroying the world if Jeremiah doesn't figure out how to stop it. This is not a modern vampire novel and I found that some parts dragged a bit while we were getting information on history. There is some nice twists that I didn't expect. All in all it was a decent story especially if you like paranormal books with a strong historical angle. I personally am not huge into that so I had a hard time getting threw some of it but enjoyed a majority of the story. ( )
