Welcome to new member Callen610 and previous members signing up.

This is going to be a great group read! We have 8 new members for this group, so far. We have 30 members in total, so we have still to see 13 older members signing up.

Mr. Tortoise Sir: Being new to this group, I want to be sure I haven't missed something. In #4 you mention the Coffee Quiz. However, I can't seem to find it. Is this something coming up? Or should I be looking someplace specific? Must go have my evening cup (decaf) to start off the holidays. Enjoy all.

We are so glad you joined us and the other new members! WELCOME!

tututhefirst, we post our quizzes during the book read(s). If you spend a moment going through the last Pirates Book Read, TheTortoise and I offered various contests thoughout the read, so that latecomers could enjoy a game too.

Sometimes people are busy and that moment of a game offering isn't the best, so by spreading quizzes, contests and games out, we can offer a variety of times and prizes to hopefully suit people during their busy schedule and everyone can participate in something they enjoy or try for a prize they want.

And of course, we ALWAYS welcome late sponsors to our Book Read Contests, so that has happened too!

Hopefully you will enjoy our Book Group whether or not you win a prize, as we certainly think we have the *very best* Book Group Readers on LibraryThing!

Warmly,

vintage_books

I'd be one of the 10 TT, waiting for the next one as I had a few problems getting hold of The Coffee Trader in time - only found this at the last minute. But I'll be there with bells on next time round ....

I'm one of the ten also. I have the book, but am tied up in my face to face book club read. I want to lurk until the next book here.

I just discovered this book club and was interested in the Coffee Trader group. I had read this book several yars ago, but I don't remember enough details to elate. But, I do remember that I liked it and found it informative of life back then. I go in to work tomorrow at the library and plan to check this book out. I hope I'm allowed to tag along for this session.

I read The Poisonwood Bible with the group, but then couldn't make the other two groups reads. Now I've realized that I never joined this particular group. So I'm in and will await the next read.

I joined this group after discovering I owned The Coffee Trader and have to say your hard work added immensely to my reading. I really appreciated the background postings and seeing others responses to the well-organized questions you posed. I didn't quite keep up with the reading schedule due to a late start, but look forward to participating from day one in whatever you choose next. Thanks again!

Hey all, I have finally decided to join this group, after hearing so much about The Coffee Trader over at the 75 Book Challenge - and I already own The Blind Assassin! I am looking forward to starting it. I am currently in the middle of Atwood's Alias Grace and really enjoying it, so another Atwood sounds great :)

I have been looking for an announcement of the next book, and didn't wxpect to stumble on it here. I am already really scheduled full thru Easter, and have never been a Margaret Atwood fan, so I think I will pass on this one. not to say I won't lurk a little. Hope you all enjoy...this is a good group, and I love the interaction, but just don't think I can handle more than my local Read Around Maine, and Dante's Inferno which we are doing as a group read on the 999. Good luck to all and enjoy.

TT--about when will you post the 3rd book so I can leave some wiggle room in my schedule for later this spring?? Or will it be early summer?

Just been looking at the books that this group has been reading and the whole concept looks really fun. I have a copy of The Coffee Trader and just needed a nudge like this to start it! Also, I like the look of your next read, The mistress of the art of death, so I'll be off to order a copy this week. Looking forward to the reads :-)

I'm intrigued by this group and I have The Mistress of the Art of Death on audiobook so I think I'm ready to take the plunge. Audiobook versions are acceptable, I hope?

Except the rule about telling the Co-Moderators how brilliant and beautiful they are... (just kidding).

Any type of book is fine to participate. We just want you to join us! So, occasionally you'll see comments about book portions ending on different pages or sections due to translations or different published copies. It's all good.

By the way, TT and vintage_books are both so brilliant and beautiful! :)

But really, where would we be without you!? We truly appreciate all you do to make this a fun experience for everyone.

Hi All,

I was intrigued when I saw this group and even more intrigued when I saw the book selections chosen so far. I have already read your choice for June The Mistress of the Art of Death but I would love it if the group will allow me to lurk in the background during that discussion and then join the next group read!

Thanks!

Here's an idea: How about a group read of Mrs. Dalloway this coming May?

Jude posted a thread to bounce around some ideas:

If you're so inclined, there is a group read of Mrs. Dalloway formed, to start on or about 2/28, over here.

No firm schedules or such, since it's a very short book; just a place with some questions, some nice people (clearly they're all new to LT), and a chance to discuss a fascinating book with interested parties.

Come one, come all!
