Even though I'm still working on my 888 Challenge (major gulp!), I'm going to get my 999 Challenge ready for 2009. (I'm also doing the 75 Books Challenge for 2009.)

Notes: All the books listed below are ones I own. Titles may change depending on my mood. I'm allowing 9 books, give or take, to overlap, which leaves me at 72 books. That's a little more doable for me than the full 81. Plus, I'm trying to add more YA books in so I can finish this goal. :)

Updates: 11/30 -- Since the categories have changed (or rather, everyone can choose their own now), I'm replacing the following: Wizards = UFOs/Aliens, Werecats = Shapeshifters, Demons = Occult Nonfiction, and Law Enforcement = Time Travel.

Would you like suggestions for some of those categories, or would that be presumptuous?

That's very thoughtful, thanks, but I'm trying to use my own collection to fill in the blanks. Trouble is, I don't think I have enough books to fill in some of the spots, like Damphyr (isn't that just the same as Vampire?), Werecats, and Law Enforcement. I think I might've bitten off more than I can chew, but it's still worth a try. :)

I am starting to think the same thing as I am also looking at my books!

Glad I'm not alone. :D Still, I love the idea. I may even start before January.

A Dhampir is a character that is half vampire/half human.

I cant believe I didnt even notice that I spelled Dhampir wrong....lol...never said I was the brightest!

Thanks for clearing that up, jseger. :) I didn't realize there was anything like that. I just figured you were either a vampire or human, no middle ground.

Not to worry, anjileyes. If I didn't have spellcheck, nothing I wrote would be readable. ;)

I am in I will try your challenge, it is not like I wouldn't be reading all the same book anyways. Now I just have a reason.

And about the Dhampir, I would say that it would qualify for the Vampire heading because they are half vampire and there are just starting to be quite a few books with Dhampir. I don't even know that I could list nine books.

9: Yeah, I think I could maybe list 1 Dhampir book, and I don't even own it. :) Anyway, good luck with your challenge! It's a great excuse to read more paranormal fiction, isn't it?

Welcome jomullane! I am the same way..I usually read paranormals also, thats why I created this group. I wanted to try and find more than just vampires & werewolves...it seemed like I was stuck in a rut!

And yes you could combine dhampir and vampires.I had originally had it as a seperate catagory because I had never heard of them before I read Vampire Academy.

Good luck with this challenge Sara!! I am going to take a look at this group and see if it is something I could try next year.
