Searching on a note only gives one page of results

Something of an odd one. If I search on a certain note, I get - as expected - a report that the note applies to 400+ books, of which the first 200 are correctly listed. However, when I click on 'Next page' to see the remainder, it comes up as 'No books found'. This has been going on for some time!

By "Note" do you mean a tag? And do you have 200 books per page listed? Two ideas that come to mind:

* the tag in question has punctuation that messes up the URL when going to the next page - can you share the particular tag that produces this behavior?
* your catalog is viewing a particular collection that has only 200 tagged books in it - can you check and see which collection you're viewing, and switch to "All Books" and see if the same thing happens?

What field are you searching, exactly? I assume you're searching your catalog at https://www.librarything.com/catalog/pleigh20? Can you give me a test search that shows this issue?

>2 lorax: Thanks for responding. I should probably have said 'Comment' rather than 'Note' (it's not a tag, as such). The comment in question includes the string 'vsi', which is what I'm searching on. I should add that this has worked fine many times in the past, and has only stopped working over the past few weeks. The search results come up (correctly) with a header indicating around 410 books, of which the first 200 are listed as normal. It's when I try to go the next page that I get the error.

Are you only seeing this issue on that one search? If so, can you tell me the exact search string? I tested "comments: vsi" (here: https://www.librarything.com/catalog/pleigh20?&deepsearch=comments%3A%20vsi) both in my account and yours, in your catalog, and was able to see all pages by using the "next page" or by clicking the page number in the search result.

Can you test your search in an incognito window/browser to see if the behavior changes? If not, can you tell me what browser and OS (operating system) you're using (e.g. Google Chrome, version 90 and Windows 7, etc.)? Do you have any browser add-ons or extensions enabled?

>6 kristilabrie: Now I really don't know what's going on! I'm using Google Chrome on a Macbook running macOS Ventura. When I click on the search link you provided, it clearly worked fine. When I try to enter 'vsi' as a search string, it still comes up with only one page. The really odd thing, though, is that, when I try to open LT in a Chrome incognito window, or in Safari, I get the error message 'Failed to get a read connection from the database'. But LT opens fine in the non-incognito Chrome window I'm currently typing this in. What this all means, i have no idea...

Okay, hm. I'm not sure why the "vsi" search is only letting you see one page, but the search you clicked on in my last post did work. The latter incognito issue, is probably something on our end. I'll mention it to the developers, because I know they've been tinkering with things to handle bot traffic.

I'd like to see you try and clear your browser's cache/cookies, but only if we can get you logged back in! Let me know if you want to try that, or try another browser entirely.

Do you have any browser add-ons or extensions in your Chrome?

>8 kristilabrie: OK - I deleted all the site cookies and it seems to be working again, at least for the moment. Many thanks for all your assistance - much appreciated!
