I have been trying to find this information ever since I discovered that profiles include your favorites. But I cannot figure it out. Help would be appreciated.

It's way down on the author page. I don't think books can be favourited.

This was actually useful. One of mt my favourites had been divided since I was last there, and I could move it to the proper split.

I'm guessing favoriting authors is way down on mobile. On desktop it's at the top of right-side bar. Books are added to Favorites collection, which is among default collections

To favorite a book, you add it to your Favorites Collection.
It can exist in more than one collection without needing to add it multiple times.

>4 igorken: Obviously, since you're favoriting an author. Where else would it be if not on author page?

>6 SandraArdnas:

Favorite Authors display on the profile page. Users often assume (not unreasonably) that editing the profile page will allow them to add Favorite Authors, and are frustrated when that approach is fruitless.

>7 paradoxosalpha: But you have to favorite a specific author. How would you choose one without going to their page? Even if you expect it to be on profile page, the very next step would be to visit the author page as the obvious place

>8 SandraArdnas: I am one of the people who thought you’d add favourite authors by editing the profile. And I assumed there’d be a field that could be filled in or a button to check. The thought didn’t even cross my mind that I’d go to the author page so no, it’s not as obvious as you think it is.

>8 SandraArdnas: From many years of being on both sides of such a written conversation where immediate feedback (i.e. a direct conversation) is not available, I've learned it's most efficient never to assume your obvious (or your route of arriving at the question) is the same as someone else's.

But thank you for helping out the original user! I merely wanted to add some additional detail.

>5 gilroy: Thanks, that's just what I needed to know. I have books in multiple collections but never thought about the favorites as being the way books got added.

>4 igorken: Thanks for that info, you rock. I have looked on the author page so many times but apparently scroll down slightly while looking. It took me a couple of go throughs to realize that. When I did, eureka!
